What’s the difference between a Z3 coating and a ceramic coating?
The simple answer is durability. They are both coatings that are applied to a surface to protect it. Their chemical constituents are different. Coatings usually require professional application – and once they are applied it is very difficult to remove them – so extreme care has to be taken.
A ceramic coating performs the same basic job of protection but is usually a liquid polymer that is applied by hand to the exterior of a vehicle. The coating also chemically bonds with the vehicle’s factory paint, creating a layer of protection – and, in some cases, is easier for the non-professional to apply with good results. Both types of coating create a permanent (or semi permanent) bond with a vehicle’s paint, meaning that it does not wash away or break down and does not require repeated application every few months.
Ceramic coating adds additional protection to a car’s exterior but Z3 coating helps keep it looking like new with comparatively minimal maintenance. Ceramic coating is a single product with multilayers of application. The first layer which in contact with the painted surface holds the other layers of ceramic coating.
